In honor of Veterans Day this month, CRC celebrated the heroism and sacrifice of our nation’s military heroes and their families through a series of events held across the state. Through our activities, and in conjunction with veteran service organizations and non-profits, we were able to support, honor and connect with service members and their families, including many of our very own employees, who served our country and volunteer countless hours to help our communities thrive.
Here’s a snapshot of some of our regional events and activities we were proud to host that celebrate our nation’s military heroes:
Bakersfield
Unveiling of Heroes Way at CRC Plaza – Monday, November 11th
CRC hosted a Medal of Honor & CRC Heroes Way Naming Ceremony on Veterans Day at CRC Plaza in Bakersfield. The event commemorated the memorial of two local Medal of Honor recipients, Larry Pierce and Leonardo Alvarado, and their families. During the ceremony, the entrance to CRC Plaza was renamed “Heroes Way” in their honor. Todd Stevens and Congressman Kevin McCarthy provided remarks for the ceremony.
Honor Flight Breakfast at Veterans Affairs Center – Thursday, November 7th
Several CRC Plaza employees participated in serving breakfast to the Veterans of Honor Flight Kern County, a non-profit with a mission to honor and send America’s veterans to Washington D.C. to see the memorials built in their honor for their service to our country – at no cost to the veteran.
Cook Off at Bakersfield Veterans Center – Monday, November 11th
CRC veterans and employees served meals to veterans and their families at the US Dept of Veterans Affairs Center in Bakersfield. This effort to recognize local veterans provided opportunity for veterans and their families to enjoy conversation, music, and food after attending the parade. This is the 5th year of CRC’s continued support to the center that provides outreach, counseling, and benefits assistance for veterans in the area.
