CRC Brings the Magic to the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Clara Valley

Learning and fun should go hand in hand. That rang true at the Santa Paula Clubhouse last month when more than 300 kids turned out at the for the 4th Annual Boys and Girls Club of Santa Clara Valley’s (BGCSCV) “Kids’ STEM Day at the Club.” The young participants were immersed in CRC’s “Magic Barrel” program presented by employees who volunteer their time to lead fun, interactive, hands-on demonstrations and experiments. The kids also learned about the many exciting Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) opportunities that are associated with careers in energy, robotics, entomology, sports and art – to name a few.

Jan Marholin, BGCSCV Founder and CEO said, “I am so appreciative that the employees from CRC commit their time at this event every year. It’s so important for the children to learn about our local energy industry while participating in oil and natural gas simulations. Many of their family members work in the local oil and gas industry and now they know more about what their jobs entail.”

After the event ended, Dalton Thornsberry, CRC Facilities Engineer, said, “I really enjoyed showing the kids the displays that demonstrate the work we do in our industry. I hope we sparked some interest in STEM with them and that they think about the many job opportunities available in the oil and gas field as they grow.”
