CRC Health, Safety and Environment Team Celebrates CDP “Leadership Level” Rating – Highest Ranking Among U.S. Oil and Natural Gas Companies

CRC received an A- from CDP (previously Carbon Disclosure Project) for our 2019 climate disclosure, scoring at CDP’s “Leadership Level.” CDP is an internationally recognized nonprofit that utilizes a comprehensive evaluation and scoring system to assess the world’s companies on their environmental transparency and performance. CRC received the highest ranking among all U.S. oil and gas companies, tying for first with one other U.S. based exploration and production (E&P) company with global operations. This recognition highlights CRC’s differentiated value as a California E&P and the company’s ongoing commitment to provide sustainable, safe and reliable energy solutions for Californians.

Todd Stevens, President and CEO of CRC, noted, “We are delighted to receive CDP’s highest rating for U.S. oil and gas companies in disclosing and managing climate change risks. This recognition represents the thoughtful work and leadership of CRC’s employees and is a testament to our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) policies that complement California’s world leading regulatory structure. CRC’s ranking illustrates that in-state production can meet both Californians’ intense energy demand and our high standards, negating the need to import energy from countries that do not share our values. As Californians, we at CRC will continue to set the example for the industry and believe our safety and operational track records, coupled with our ESG policies and 2030 Sustainability Goals, are becoming a strategic differentiator among energy producers.”

To celebrate CRC’s accomplishment, a “Safety Recognition Week” was held to recognize CRC employees and contractors and the efforts they demonstrate daily to continue our “Safety First” culture and practices. Each of CRC’s areas of operations were lauded including Sacramento, Kern County, Ventura, Long Beach and Huntington Beach.

Urban Paul, Vice President of HSE & Sustainability commented, “It is my privilege to recognize CRC’s dedicated workforce of employees and service providers for achieving the best safety performance in the history of our operations. CRC’s statewide employees have worked 15 consecutive months without a recordable injury. Combined with our contractors, our 2019 performance was 60% better than the E&P sector, and even safer than radio broadcasters and insurance agents. We were happy to celebrate our safety milestones across CRC and rededicate ourselves to serving as California’s safety leader and operator of choice in 2020 and beyond.”
